





2022 'La Sangre de un Toro Joven'
Type: Oxidative Rose
Varieties: Syrah
Origin: Sagebrush Vineyard
Grown at Sagebrush Vineyard on the Black Sage Bench in Oliver, BC. This vineyard was farmed organically for a number of years up till 2022 where the owners used one application of non organic fungicide to combat very heavy mildew pressure. The vineyard did not make it through the winter of extreme cold temperatures so this was the very last fruit picked from these vines. Vines that I had quite literally grown up with as a kid.
The fruit was whole bunch direct pressed into neutral oak barrels where the juice went through a spontaneous fermentation and malolactic conversion. After both fermentations were complete, we added 25-30ppm of sulphur, and left the wine on gross lees, untopped and under a layer of flor for 30 months. This past March we bottled the wine directly from the barrel and off of the gross lees, unfined, unfiltered and by hand.
Nose - persimmon zest, marzipan, green almond, dried apricot, marmalade
Palate - decaying mango, alpindon cheese, hazelnut, fruitcake, toasted cinnamon
