Type: White
Varietals: 70% Sauvignon Blanc, 30% Muscat
Origin: Golden Mile Bench, Okanagan Valley

From Mirror Lake Vineyard on the Golden Mile Bench. Sustainably farmed on sand and alluvial glacial deposits. The rows sit east west right next to a small lake. The lack of late afternoon sun on the west side of the valley allows the fruit to retain lots of freshness and acidity. The fruit was hand harvested at the end of September. The 2022 growing season started very late, with a cool and wet spring, which was very welcome for the previously drought stricken vines. A very hot August confused the vines a bit, but veraison still started quite late. Moderate September into a warm October helped to push ripening through while still retaining very high levels of acidity and freshness. Both the Sauvignon Blanc and Muscat were harvested on the same day. Once the fruit landed at the winery, we gave them a foot stomp to release some of the juice, we let everything soak overnight. The next day all of the fruit was pressed into stainless steel. We had started a pied de cuvée in the vineyard as a wild yeast starter, which we dumped into the juice. After a couple of days the yeast started to become active. Once dry, the wine was racked into a mixture of neutral barriques and 2019 puncheons which were previously used for fermenting Chardonnay. The wine was left to age on fine lees for 6 months with once a month battonage. Bottled unfined and unfiltered in late March.
